It is adventure we all seek. The difference is that each person's definition of adventure is different.
According to dictionary.com "adventure" is defined as an exciting or very unusual experience. That's not what we are after here.
I am after a break from the norm. Call it minimalism, simplicity, off-grid, roughing it, call it what you will. Tired are the days of working and spending my time doing what culture expects of me.
My goal which is yet to officially be defined is more. I want more out of what I expect of myself. Generally, I view life to be simple but we, as humans, make it extremely complicated. We put more things on our plate than necessary. We put undo stress on ourselves and our family because of outside circumstances. I don't believe this is how God designed us to be. I do not believe we are supposed to take a bad day out on our kids or spouse.
What I believe is that we are supposed to live in this world. Give to it, make connections, live simple without the stress of life. Relax. Hard work is good. It makes a person feel accomplished.
Here be my battle cry. My goal is to work to a point in my life where I can leave the city, live on a small acreage that is mostly self-sustainable. My growing-up has given me a solid foundation in farming, farm life, building, fixing, sustaining, etc. All that I need to do is embrace it and step away from the normal life. Take a step towards fear and try something new and independent of what the world says.
